On July 31, Senator Cynthia Lummis introduced the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve bill. This bill aims to establish a reserve fund for Bitcoin, a scarce and decentralized asset. The goal is for the U.S. government to accumulate 1 million Bitcoin, which is about 5% of the total supply. The plan is to use existing U.S. Treasury funds to buy Bitcoin in amounts similar to the Treasury’s gold holdings.
